I had something happen to me, that on the surface seemed rather mundane, but I still thought it was note worthy.
Last week, on Thursday I was working out at the gym. I was on an elliptical machine at the time.
The room with the ellipticals and treadmills has about 20 machines in all, in two rows facing each other. Going down the center of the rows, is a metal beam with televisions and direct tv receivers at each machine.
I should note all the receivers use the same controller, there are several in the room. You have to point it right at the receiver to change the station, and if you point it to the side, you might change what your neighbor is watching.
At the time, I was the only one in there, the tv was set to FXMovies. I didn't pay any attention to it.
Two days, on Saturday, I returned and got on the same machine. The tv was tuned to the same station. No biggy right? I mean its only been two days and no one has changed the station.
Anyhow, I continue working out when a guy and a girl come in. The girl gets on a stair climber about 10 feet to my left. The guy gets on a elliptical some 20 feet or so to my right. I ignore them and keep doing my thing.
Well I start watching the tv, and I am a little annoyed by the show that is playing. I start thinking to myself about the station not changing for 3 days. I think I should track down a remote. And then it happens!
The station changes. Again no biggy right? There are two other people in the room and I am sure they just tried their remote and did me the service of changing it for me.
I look to the left and the girl on the stair climber is texting on her phone. I turn to the right and the guy at the opposite end is texting on his phone. I look down to the lobby and the guy at the desk is just talking to someone else. No one has a remote.
If the guy or girls phones are what affected my tv only mine (or rather the closest four to me did not change. If it was an internal problem with the tv, it is amazing that it took 3 days before it changed stations.
Now I am not suggesting some crazy psychic powers and I am not claiming supernatural influence, after all, it is just a tv. But with all the stories I have heard of electronics turning on and off and what such, I can say I have finally seen it occur with my own eyes!
